Woodside hands out decommissioning contracts

PERTH, June 1, 2023 – Woodside Energy has completed the awards for decommissioning of subsea structures at its oil and gas fields offshore Western Australia, the Australian independent announced on Wednesday.

The contracts cover works at the Enfield, Griffin, Stybarrow and Echo Yodel oil and gas fields and involve the removal and disposal of riser and disconnectable turret moorings, umbilicals, flowlines and other subsea infrastructure.

They include decommissioning of the Nganhurra riser turret mooring on the Enfield field, the Griffin riser turret mooring and the Stybarrow disconnectable turret mooring.

Companies who signed deals include TechnipFMC, Heerema Marine Contractors, McDermott, Fugro, DOF Subsea and McMahon.

A contract for the permanent plug and abandonment of wells in the Stybarrow field was awarded to Transocean.

Cost and scope of each contract were not disclosed.

The campaign is expected to begin in Q4 2023 following government approval.

The development will follow decommissioning activities currently underway at the Enfield and Balnaves fields that began in Q1 2022.
